Josh Rabe | Head Coach | Baseball | Quincy University

Describe the qualities that your program is looking for in a potential student-athlete?

First and foremost, talent. You have to be able to play the game in order for us to recruit you. I do not think that can be understated.  After talent, the recruit has to have grades.  Preferably, a 3.5, or a 25 ACT or in the top 20% of their class so we can stack academic and athletic aid.  Lastly, the PSA has to be a decent person.  I have coached one too many idiots or people who are selfish.

Could you give us an example of a current or former player who exceeded your expectations, highlighting the reasons that player excelled?

I am currently coaching a kid that fits that profile.  He is a 5th year senior catcher, who is a walk on. He has gone from being a non-factor, to being a person that is going to be our backup catcher and graduate this year.
