Describe the qualities that your program is looking for in a potential student-athlete?

Of course talent and projectability are important qualities to have, however even more important is strength of character. We are looking for strong students first and foremost. They do not necessarily have to be 4.0 students with 1400 SAT scores, however they do need to be as close to maximizing their potential as possible. We look for student-athletes who work just as hard in the classroom as they do on the ball-field. Beyond that, we look for individuals who will understand the sacrifices that are required to be a successful student-athlete at the collegiate level. Players that understand this element will be the ones who work hard to get better on a daily basis and will always put the team first. Lastly, we seek players who LOVE to practice. Everyone enjoys playing games, however, the majority of the year is spent in preparation. Individuals who love to practice will be the ones who see the best results in the games.

Could you give us an example of a current or former player who exceeded your expectations, highlighting the reasons that player excelled?

There is not one specific player who comes to mind. However, I can say that the ones who buy into the process of getting better each day are the ones who have seen the most success on the field. The players who are not willing to make the sacrifices on a daily basis are typically the ones who will not last long in our program.
