Jarrod Zwirko | Assistant Coach | Women’s Swimming and Diving | University of New Hampshire (UNH)

Describe the qualities that your program is looking for in a potential student-athlete?

When we look at recruits times are important, but making sure that it is an athlete that will fit into the program. Team cohesion is very important to the success of our program. These athletes spend a lot of time together and need each other to be supportive and encouraging. Dedication, desire to improve, and hard work are all very important as well. We want to know that the athlete is excited about getting better while here and is willing to put in the work to get better.

Could you give an example of a current or former player who exceeded your expectations, highlighting the reasons that player excelled?

We have people on the team each year that exceed our expectations. These are swimmers that come in and give everything that they have every day and are excited when they see what they are able to do. We have freshmen that come in and during their first meet will swim a best time because of the training they have done and their belief in our program. They also strive to be better and never are complacent with how they are doing.
