Describe the qualities that your program is looking for in a potential student-athlete?

We are obviously looking for talented athletes, but we are also looking for good people who bring more to the team than just talent. Someone who has talent and is a good student, hard worker, and team leader is far more valuable to the team than someone who just has a good mark.

Could you give us an example of a current or former player who exceeded your expectations, highlighting the reasons that player excelled?

We have had many athletes exceed our expectation and even their own expectations. It is usually preceded by that individual making the decision to be great and then relentlessly working toward accomplishing that goal. To be great at this level you must live the life of a student athlete outside of practice. You can’t just be a student athlete for those couple hours each day that you are at practice. You must control your life outside of practice as well by having proper eating habits, proper sleeping habits, etc.
