Describe the qualities that your program is looking for in a potential student-athlete?

Initiative- The ability to make a decision is important. A failure to act is almost always associated with failure. The ability to make a decision is the first step towards success.
Enthusiasm- Energy and enjoyment, drive and dedication will stimulate yourself to do more. It will also inspire others.
Humility- Be coachable, learn from every one at all moments. Truly become a student of the sport.

Could you give us an example of a current or former player who exceeded your expectations, highlighting the reasons that player excelled?

I had a group of athletes this past season that struggled to believe that the goal I set for them was actually attainable. I will admit it was a lofty goal, and most out of our immediate coaching staff believed it was far fetched. The training for the season focused and revolved around achieving this goal at the final meet. As the season progressed, the team kept slowly moving towards that goal. Despite how small the progress was each week, the team kept believing in the training we were doing. Never once did they question if we were doing the right things. At the conclusion of the season, the team ran nearly two seconds ahead of the goal that I had set for them.
