Describe the qualities that your program is looking for in a potential student-athlete?

One thing we look for is dedication. In order for our program to be successful, given our institution’s rigorous academic demands, our athletes must be fully invested in the team and in one another. We strive to bring in players who are hard-working not only on the court, but in the classroom. Our staff works to provide an environment where our players can grow as competitors and individuals, and so we are constantly looking for student-athletes ready and willing to put in the time and work that enables this growth.

Could you give us an example of a current or former player who exceeded your expectations, highlighting the reasons that player excelled?

From my experience thus far, I can take our entire team from this past season as an example of an exceeded expectation. From day one, every player showed a commitment to not only work hard as an individual, but hold her teammate accountable for the good of the team. The team bonded together, sacrificed and remained dedicated to achieving something bigger than our individual selves. Each player allowed herself to be vulnerable and open to constructive criticism from her peers for the good of the group. Our team’s individual and collective growth from last season completely exceeded my expectations.
