Describe the qualities that your program is looking for in a potential student-athlete?

1. Teamwork: The ability to get along with others. The ability to put the team before self accomplishments. The ability to be a good teammate on the floor as well as on the bench. Not everyone has to be best friends, but there should be a mutual respect for your teammates. The ability to hold each other accountable and give forth a competitive effort for the girl working beside you to make each other better.

2. Hard working: Ability to follow directions and be respectful of the coaching staff. Make an effort in all drills, practice, and workouts, not just games. Willing to put forth extra effort working on skills and fitness even when not in season. All the hard work is to benefit the team.

3. Good attitude: Positive. Respectful. Good attitude while practicing/working out, but knows the time and place to have fun.

Could you give us an example of a current or former player who exceeded your expectations, highlighting the reasons that player excelled?

I think one of our transfer players for this year has been a great example. First and foremost, she is a great student. She gets the job done in the classroom, so there are no worries about her not being able to play. She is a team player. She started off the year with an injury, but still came to every practice and was positive on the sidelines. When she began to play again, she continued her positivity. She played off the bench for the first half of the season, but always giving maximum effort when put in the game. She also makes great decisions, works hard defensively, and is just an all-around smart player. She is athletic, but is really undersized for her position. She has a been consistently playing well game in and game out. She is now one of our starters. She is a great example of how hard work and being a team player are rewarded. We are very happy to have her back again next year.
