Describe the qualities that your program is looking for in a potential student-athlete?

1- passion for the sport of lacrosse- does this player absolutely LOVE lacrosse. Love practice, love to play, love their teammates. A desire to be there and get better everyday.

2- athleticism – speed, strength, size

3- Lacrosse ability- stick skills, must have use of both hands equally, defensive technique, quick feet, catch inside tight spaces, feed into tight spaces and hit their target etc.

4- Lacrosse knowledge – do they see the field, use their teammates?

5- coachability/ability to learn – I find this is VERY useful and find these kids who attend my camps. Being able to learn a concept and then perform it is vital.

6- good teammate/caring individual – speaks for itself. A person that does the right thing.

Could you give an example of a current or former player who exceeded your expectations, highlighting the reasons that player excelled?

A former player of mine in her senior year became the Div III defender of the year. She was small in stature but big in heart. The passion she showed for her teammates and the love of lacrosse were amazing and took our team to the next level. Her 5’3” ( I may be giving her an inch) frame seemed like 5’8” when she played. She was a TRUE team player who wore it all out on her sleeve. Her communication is what helped our team have one of the lowest GAA average’s in the country. This individual still shows how much she cares about our team even being out of college for 5 years now. I will take this type of player over anyone who has great skill and no teamwork.
